The best result I've had are with K9copy, DVD95, and xdvdshrink (you need to edit the some config file to get subtitles) No wine here so Gnu/Linux solutions for me only please. It seems most ripping in Gnu/Linux is geared to xvids. My efforts to rid myself of OSX is only failing because of DVD ripping. That can cause issues it you get back sectors. Also it gives some space with ensuring 32k gaps between IFOs and BUPs, when writing ISO's. I'm not sure with Linux, but there is a great program PgcEdit, that fixes some issues with Shrink. Nothing I found is any better than Shrink.

I still install the old stuff (RipIt4Me, etc) just to keep it around in case DVDFabHDDecrypter has a problem with a DVD, but I really haven't needed to use that older software in a long time. In Gnome I have Shrink make an ISO file instead then burn it with Brasero. I just use K3b to burn a VideoDVD project using the files generated by DVDShrink. I haven't had a problem with DVDFab accessing the drives just leaving it at the Windows XP default.Īnd that VSO burning engine, the one time I let it install, had caused some drive access problems in K3b for me so I never let it install that anymore. But then I had already installed every dependency suggested by the wine wiki's Recommended Packages page back when I had been installing 's version so that might explain why the meta-package picked up everything.
