Almost as if it was learning as it went by the mid point the quality was good.

I found setting need to be tweaked or I got horrid pixelation at to start of films. That said when successfully installed I found it to be the best ripper in gnome. Even then it sometimes compiles in French! a known bug.

DVD95 needs lots of library's and I have to install developer libs to get it to work. The best result I've had are with K9copy, DVD95, and xdvdshrink (you need to edit the some config file to get subtitles) No wine here so Gnu/Linux solutions for me only please. It seems most ripping in Gnu/Linux is geared to xvids. My efforts to rid myself of OSX is only failing because of DVD ripping. That can cause issues it you get back sectors. Also it gives some space with ensuring 32k gaps between IFOs and BUPs, when writing ISO's. I'm not sure with Linux, but there is a great program PgcEdit, that fixes some issues with Shrink. Nothing I found is any better than Shrink.

With Decrypter and Shrink, that is all one needs.

The only difference with Decrypter and the full version is the ablitity to compress and some other features like mobile, ipod.and other stuff I don't need. The only time I needed NT4 was using ImgBurn. I still have DVDFab 5050 installed as I had read about some folks having problems with the newer versions in Wine, but perhaps that's been corrected.Yes, I got it from WineHQ. Great update for modern day DVD access! I still install the old stuff (RipIt4Me, etc) just to keep it around in case DVDFabHDDecrypter has a problem with a DVD, but I really haven't needed to use that older software in a long time. In Gnome I have Shrink make an ISO file instead then burn it with Brasero. I just use K3b to burn a VideoDVD project using the files generated by DVDShrink. I haven't had a problem with DVDFab accessing the drives just leaving it at the Windows XP default.Īnd that VSO burning engine, the one time I let it install, had caused some drive access problems in K3b for me so I never let it install that anymore. Wine is already set at XP by default these days.

I only set Windows NT4 for the old DVDDecrypter program. But then I had already installed every dependency suggested by the wine wiki's Recommended Packages page back when I had been installing 's version so that might explain why the meta-package picked up everything. In fact every debian wine package got installed by the wine meta-package. And wine-utils got installed just by aptitude install wine for me. I too just use the wine in Lenny these days since it runs anything I have just fine.
